About Us
The "Once Upon A Time Game" was created by Donald Hines and his son Jesse Hines.
Several years ago my son's Aunt and Uncle got him this incredibly cool card game that was all about telling a story. It consisted of a HUGE pile of cards with different pictures on them. You played the game by telling a story with the cards. BUT, there were a few problems.
First off, we rejected the games version of the rules immediately. The rules THEY had written involved a 2 minute timer and the loser was the first person who couldn't tell the entire story before the timer ran out. Which, of course, destroys the ENTIRE point by forcing people to RUSH instead of to take their time and TELL A STORY! Furthermore, nearly a third of the cards were food, so you ended up with a lot of stories about talking hamburgers and their other food friends. And, the cards were mostly oriented towards modern stories, and Jesse really wanted a set oriented towards fantasy stories.
So, the end result of this was, even though the game was GREAT, we were inspired to make our OWN story telling game. One that worked exactly the way we thought a story telling game should. We've been working on it for a LONG time, but its done now, and we've done some testing and had some very enjoyable games.
Our version of the game was built entirely with public domain images, except for a few of my own photographs that are cc attribution, and I just stuck the attribution on the graphic. This means that all of the images are free for anyone to print and use. So we decided to release our game to the world and see if anyone else can have some fun with it as well.
